Description
Original wings from a German SD-2 “Butterfly” mine dating from the WWII period.
One of the wings is loose and does not hold securely. The mechanism is stiff and requires careful restoration/development.
The German SD-2
The SD-2, known to Allied troops as the butterfly bomb, was a small German air-dropped submunition whose two hinged wings opened during descent. Only the inert wing assembly is offered here: it contains no explosive, filling or fuze.
