The retaining screw has been drilled out, showing evidence of previous unsuccessful attempts to disassemble the stock.
The MP40 submachine gun, in production from 1940, used a folding metal stock that is now collected in its own right. This is an inert accessory part only: no firearm, receiver or working mechanism is included.
