Description
Original “St Fett” grease tin, recovered from a German carbide lamp. The tin still contains remnants of the original grease.
Small period packaging
Grease and lubricant tins survive in far smaller numbers than the equipment they served, because they were treated as consumables and thrown away. A tin recovered alongside its lamp, still holding traces of its original contents, is a good example of wartime packaging.
